So...Who needs Sleep?

Adjusting is a big word in our house right now, as we are all adjusting to having two beautiful babies and very little sleep. The "mommy" gear has kicked in and as a friend once said, "You will not die from lack of sleep". Although, there are moments I feel this statement is debatable.

James and Maggie are still adjusting to life at home and are making great strides (some of them backwards) to get on a schedule. It is definitely their schedule, but to them it works. We are only getting up two times during the night, but with two babies the up time is almost equivalent to the down time. Maybe after some training we can enter several events in the "Baby Olympics"...diaper changing, dodge the spray, or double time feeding.

All kidding aside, we would not change anything...this is an adjustment, but one that is a true blessing.

We went to the Dr for the first checkup on August 25th and we had gained some weight since leaving the hospital. Yea!! Weight gain at this point in there lives is a good thing. The Pediatrician advised us we could begin tummy time to help build strength. We will have to return to the Dr on Thursday August 28th for another weight check...the more they gain the better.

We introduced tummy time on August 26th and Maggie loved it. As you can see, it really allowed her to catch up on her beauty sleep. James is still debating the whole tummy time exercise, but I am sure he will grow to enjoy it.

Welcome Home James & Maggie!!!

James and Maggie left the hospital on Friday, August 22nd. How glad we are to be home; although the surroundings may be new, James and Maggie are adapting. We have two extra hands to help out as we become acclimated to being at home. My mom and dad "AKA" Nanny and Paw Paw are here to help and provide James and Maggie with lots of love and kisses.

We are still in the learning process...being new parents is exciting, scary but most of all an Extreme BLESSING! We fall in love with James and Maggie each and everytime we look at them. We are tip toeing our way through the daily routines...the first big accomplishment was the first BATH. That was an adventure...but we all survived and James and Maggie came out smelling like "New Baby".

James and Maggie really love each other and do really well sleeping together. Nothing like sibling love...

Early Arrival!!!

James Edwin and Marguerite Ann "Maggie" are officially here! They were born on August 18th...two days before their scheduled arrival. Keith and I went to the Dr Monday morning for our last routine check-up.

Dr Kennedy was not excited about my lab work and decided to transfer me to Labor and Delivery for observation. Dr Kennedy continued to run labs and we continued to call family members to advise them "plans had changed". We were either having babies Monday afternoon or Tuesday Morning depending on my lab report. We received the "All Go" from Dr Kennedy and they began prepping me for my C-Section. In a nut shell, I had elevated proteins and my platelet count was dropping, two things that cause Preeclampsia. So, babies here we come; I received several shots (which I don't like) and then came the epidural. Dr. Nag was awesome...no pain and in went the epidural without problem. Soon, I was wheeled into the operating room for my 4:30 surgery and 10 minutes later we had two Beautiful Babies!!!

Marguerite Ann "Maggie" was born 8/18/08 at 4:39, 6lb and 14 oz and 20 inches long and James Edwin II was born 8/18/08 at 4:40, 7 lbs and 2 oz and 20 1/8 inches long.

We are still in the hospital and I would expect we will go home on Friday.

Counting Down the Days!!!

I am not sure if the word "ready" can ever describe someone who is about to be a parent...especially when you are having twins, but we are trying. The nursery has beds, the swings are assembled, and the car seats are secured in the car...now we wait.

Well, the wait is almost over, since we are scheduled to deliver on August 20th. That is right in 4 days we will be parents...and there is no turning back, although I did ask if there was a way to keep them in my tummy at least until December. : )

We have waited so long to meet James and Maggie, and now the time has come. To know that a miracle will happen on Wednesday is amazing. God has been so instrumental in this pregnancy...I would not be where I am without His strength. I praise Him daily for these babies and ask that He teach me to love them as much as He does.
